Marula Music is a one-person studio and plugin shop. I build the tools I wish existed when I’m producing, then I ship them so other people can use them too — that’s the whole model, no more complicated than that.

I’ve spent the last decade writing and producing melodic electronic music under the name Protoculture, and the last few years building audio software alongside it. Marula Music plugins exist because I kept hitting the same walls in other people’s tools and got tired of working around them.

Everything on this site — the plugins, the soundware, the gear notes — comes out of records I’m actually making, not a product roadmap dreamed up in isolation from the music.

Why Marula

Small enough that I test everything myself before it ships. Opinionated enough that the plugins don’t try to do everything — they do a few things well and get out of the way. If that’s the kind of tool you’re after, you’re in the right place.
