Saturation
Fat with a capital PH
Drive increases harmonic density and output level. Push it harder for more saturation, then use Auto Trim to offset the added level.
Voicing
Odd harmonics or added second harmonic
Classic produces only odd harmonics. Warmer adds a second harmonic that Classic cannot produce. Both voicings are level-matched, so changing Mode changes the harmonic balance without changing the level.

Tuned on the same sessions as the records
Spek was built and tuned on real Marula sessions. Its transfer-curve display shows the shaping function and highlights the region used by the signal as it plays.
Live transfer-curve display
A 64-bin occupancy histogram highlights the part of the transfer curve used by your signal.
Level-compensated drive
Auto Trim applies exactly −Drive dB of computed make-up gain with zero latency and no pumping, so you can compare the shaping at a compensated level.
Pre- and post-shaper tone controls
Bias is a pre-shaper tilt that changes what frequencies saturate. Filter is a post-shaper tone dial. They are not interchangeable.
